Charateristic connection
This is another special charateristic connection that the Jakimirya has . For many years Bharti Shipyard Company was providing jobs to the people of Mirya . The unemployment issue was largely covered by it . It was the backbone of the economy of Jakimirya for many years . The Grampanchayat was also getting revenue from the company . By default, as the name points out it was the ship building company . We can gather some basic information in the link is given, https://www.indiamart.com/bharatishipyard/aboutus.html . It was founded in 1973 and the plant was established at Miryabundar , 2.5 km ahead of Jakimirya . As the name suggest , the company was building ships . This article is not concerned about the information of the company as it can be found in the above link and many other places by search on internet . I am going to discuss here about a different issue . This issue is related with the different tendencies which encircled the working plant at Miryabundar and turned it into a warfield for the different leaders ! It costs the lives of poor workers ruthlessly !
The golden age ended
The company progessed very nicely and was providing employment to the local as well as outside employees. There were almost one thousand emplyees working at some point . The company had international orders for building ships . It was the golden era . But , before few years , the problems started at the local level . A union of the workers was formed and the drama started onwards . The workers were demanding more wage rates . They went on strike after sometime . The strike became worst and it gave an unwanted entry of local leaders in the battleground ! The local leaders tried to capitalize the issue and formed a company - local leaders association for the new recruitment . The problem of the workers on strike was still there ! Slowly, the big leaders were called from outside and every leader tried to calm down the workers . But all the negotiations were failed as it was the one way travel . The matter even went into the labour court . There were few decisions . But overall the employees were not happy . The situation went out of hand of everybody and few empoyees had to leave the jobs forever . Its very unfortunate that few jobless workers were unable to bear this shock and they became heavy drinkers ! Later on , few lost their lives due to heavy leaker . Few have to leave this nice village .
They made it battlefield and ruined !
The problem continued further and it reached to almost shut down the plant . Many workers became jobless . Some of them from U.P. , Bihar, Goa , Karnataka . They had no money to go back to their State ! They even sold their aata for chapaties to have some money to go to their homes ! Its very very unfortunate . This is the worst situation I have seen the poor people crying and becoming desparate in life ! The bigger fishes got their meal , but the poor lost their confidence in life and in our lovely Mirya where they were living happily for many years . Whatever may be the reasons , with no blame to anybody , I think this is one of the worst thing happened in the life of a village, which no good human being wants to happen forever ! Now the plant is still their , but it looks like ruined !
A bad day
A bad day
Yesterday i. e. 12th Dec. 2017 was a bad day for Bharti Shipyard. The godown at Ratnagiri MIDC area got into flames as fire surrounded it. It is very unfortunate that there was loss of some property. The grass in the nearby area got burning suddenly and the flames reached towards the company's godown quickly. The exact loss has not been known yet. This area is near about 8 km away from Jakimirya.

The #bharati_shipyard company mentioned above has been no more in Mirya now. It had been surrounded by many local , national and even international problems like debts , court cases etc. Ultimately , the plant at Miryabunder had to be shut down and it was indeed closed on all grounds in Mirya village . Something has to be done so that the show should go on . Few people took on the show and brought Yomen Shipping company in place of Bharati shipyard. But , it is heard that the problems of this Yomen Shipping company have also started with some clash with the local people on the possession of land issue . So now we have to wait and see what will happen of this Yomen Shipping company plant at Miryabunder !!!
