From Holi to Diwali festival

Mirya has ancient connection in Ramayana. When Rama's brother Laxmana injured and failed unconscious in the war , Lord Hanuman brought a part of Dronagiri Mountain for the medicine called sanjivanee. Meanwhile, a tinny part of the land of Dronagiri failed in the Arebic Sea which became known as Mirya. Jakimirya is one of the area of Village Mirya. In such a way, Jakimirya Village has a connection in Ramayana. Since then,  it has a sound culture. It is a religious peoples' land. There are temples of Gods and Goddesses, like Navalai-Pavanai , Maheshwar, Ganapati , Dattatraya & Hanuman. Jakimirya celebreates many festivals like Gokulashtami Festival, Ganapati Festival, Navratrotsav Festival, Diwali Festival , Datta Jayanti, Holi Festival etc.

It is basically a land of fishermen. Main activity is fishing, as it is surrounded by sea. Wine production also goes on.  Mango business is another activity, but it is a seasonal one.  Jakimirya is also sound educationally. Many people from this small land are engaged in big projects, many are officers . Many are working in State and Central Government offices.  Some are running industries.

In the Navalai - Pavanai temple, there goes non stop standing bhajans (devotion songs) for seven days starting from the first day of Marathi month Shrawan every year . For these seven days people participate in the non stop devotion. Nobody eats nonvage, nobody drinks wine .

Education is the base of any progress making life . Life is enhanced by education. It is the first experience of the outer world, i. e the world outside your family life . You learn many things in this outer world. Primary schooling is the first step of education.

Jakimirya is a tiny village by size. But, the importance of education was felt almost before 70 years here ! The thought of a school was actually came into existence in 1948 here . ZILLHA PARISHAD VIDYAMANDIR JAKIMIRYA RATNAGIRI was started in the year 1948 , just three years after India's independence ! .

This school has gone through various stages. Initially, it was very difficult to establish and run even a primary school in such a remote area. Very few people were literate here at that time .

DIWALI FESTIVAL2018 IN JAKIMIRYA

Every year the joy of this great festival is decreasing here as the prices are rising continuesly. The people can't purchase or celebrate as they want.  The nature is also making it difficult as there is no coldness in air. In fact,  there is heat more than generally expected.  But,  as a habit or a tradition people are still celebrating the Diwali Festival anyhow  ! At least,  they can give best wishes on whatsapp etc.

Here are some best wishes photos of Diwali fesitival being celebrated here in my wonderland Jakimirya .
